Moldovan diplomat had several bilateral meetings in Vilnius

Chisinau, July 12. /MOLDPRES/- On the sidelines of the NATO summit in Vilnius, Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration had several bilateral meetings with counterparts and other officials present at the event, the MAEIE press service has reported.
Among them are: Mircea Geoană (NATO Deputy Secretary General), Annalena Baerbock (Germany), Catherine Colonna (France), Tanja Fajon (Slovenia), Elina Valtonen (Finland), George Gerapetritis (Greece), Margus Tsahkna (Estonia), Luminița Odobescu (Romania), Péter Szijjártó (Hungary), Tobias Billström (Sweden), Thórdís Kolbrún Reykfjörd Gylfadóttir (Iceland), Antony Blinken (USA), James Cleverly (United Kingdom), Ilia Darchiashvili (Georgia) and a group of US senators.
The officials discussed regional security and ways to deepen our partnership relationship with NATO and member states to strengthen our country's defense capabilities. Popescu also spoke about the accession process of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union and about the significant progress we have made in implementing the nine recommendations formulated by the European Commission.
We welcomed the final declaration of the member states through which they recognize our progress in promoting reforms and democratic norms and support the process of accession of the Republic of Moldova to the EU. NATO allies have declared that they will intensify political and practical support for our country, in order to increase resilience and security.
Another topic discussed was the preparation for the conference Moldova Support Platform, which was created at the initiative of France, Germany and Romania, the next edition to be hosted in Chisinau this October. We also talked about several concrete projects for the benefit of our citizens, including the recognition of driving licenses and social agreements", the Moldovan official said.
