Ukrainian driver detained at border with 11 kg of drugs worth 6.6 million lei

Chisinau, July 19. /MOLDPRES/- A female driver from Ukraine, who was transporting 11 kg of drugs worth 6.6 million lei (330 thousand euros), was detained at the Palanca border crossing point.
According to the General Police Inspectorate (IGP), the drugs were camouflaged in four electric motors and packed in 21 packages. The total quantity of drugs is 11 kg.
The woman is 41 years old and was driving a minibus that transported cardboard boxes with motors in which the drugs were stored. After crossing the border, under the investigative measures, the minibus was stopped by the officers of the National Investigation Inspectorate. Thus, the drugs were made unavailable, as evidence in the criminal case, and the minibus was lifted for eventual confiscation for the benefit of the state.
Ciocana-based Chisinau Court ordered the woman to be placed in preventive detention for 20 days. The criminal investigation is ongoing. Under the law, the person benefits from the presumption of innocence.
