Eligibility criteria for social housing beneficiaries to be expanded

Chisinau, July 20. /MOLDPRES/- Eligibility criteria for social housing beneficiaries will be expanded. Parliament voted a draft in the second reading today. The initiative was supported by the vote of 54 MPs.

It sees that in addition to providing social housing to the vulnerable, the action of the law will also extend to families in which at least one of the members is an employee of a budget institution or works in the public services. Concept of "minimum of existence" will be replaced by that of "minimum salary per country", as one of the eligibility criteria. "Through this amendment, the local public authorities of the Republic of Moldova will have the opportunity to offer housing to civil servants in critical areas and to fill vacant positions, contributing to the development of the regions", the authors said.

During the two phases of the implementation of the social housing construction project, 3,500 people of socially vulnerable categories were provided with housing.
