Moldovan president meets group of Lithuanian MPs

Chisinau, July 26. /MOLDPRES/- President Maia Sandu had a meeting today with a delegation led by Zygimantas Pavilionis, Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania, the presidential press service has reported.
The discussion focused on bilateral cooperation and our country's accession to the EU. Maia Sandu thanked for the support provided by Lithuania over time, including in obtaining the status of a candidate country for EU accession.
The officials approached the security risks in the region, triggered by Russia's war against Ukraine and its effects on the country's economy and energy sector. The President emphasized that the Chisinau authorities support entrepreneurs and create conditions for economic growth, which is also a guarantee for the consolidation of democracy in our country.
Lithuania is a reliable partner for Moldova. Through the Development Cooperation and Democracy Promotion, it financed the implementation of 145 projects in Moldova. Our countries have excellent cooperation in defense, internal affairs and border management. Lithuania supported the development of the institutional capacities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration.
