Government approved: VAT refund to economic agents in Gagauzia to be made from autonomy budget

Chisinau, July 28. /MOLDPRES/- The refund of the amount of value added tax (VAT) paid by economic agents in Gagauzia will be made from the budget of the autonomy, and not from the national public budget, as it is currently. Government approved a draft law today.

Under the draft law, if after the end of the budget year, the amount of tax refunds will exceed the amount of receipts, then the difference will be compensated by special purpose transfers from the state budget in the following budget year.

The initiative belongs to deputy Radu Marian, who claims that the draft law will bring more fairness in the relationship between the national budget and that of UTAG.

According to the informative note on the project, in the last five years alone, the central budget reimbursed the Gagauz autonomy over 640 million lei (32 million euros) as VAT refunds.
