Chisinau, 2 Aug. /MOLDPRES/- Today, Moldova has a National Tourism Office. The decision to create the new institution was approved by the government.
The new Office is an autonomous body, which will implement the policies and regulations developed by the central authority in the field - the Ministry of Culture. At the same time, the institution will support the development of tourism, provide services and assistance to the sector and ensure promotional activities, in order to increase tourism revenues and increase the visibility of the Republic of Moldova in the world.
The Ministry of Culture said that the new institution was created in the context in which Moldova is the only country in Central and South-Eastern Europe where there is no national institution responsible for implementing policies in the tourism, although this is considered a sector with enormous potential investment attraction and development.
For the implementation of the project, about 2.6 million lei will be needed, money that will be used to pay the salaries of 25 employees. The expenses are to be covered from the means of development partners and donors, from the services provided by the Office, from the state budget, as well as from other sources.
