Moldova, India to boost commercial exchanges with agri-food products

Chisinau, 4 Aug. /MOLDPRES/- Our country is interested in strengthening and deepening the Moldovan-Indian cooperation relations in areas of mutual interest, such as agriculture and processing industries, pharmaceuticals, textiles, energy and tourism, according to Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry , who pays a working visit to India this week and held a briefing today to announce the results.
"The level of competitiveness of domestic agricultural products, their diversity and quality, has led to the fact that in the last two years exports to India have increased several times compared to the period of 2020. However, the agreements established are an important step in achieving the entire commercial and investment potential between our countries", Bolea said.
The Deputy Prime Minister had a meeting with India's Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Sushri Shobha Karandlaje in New Delhi. The officials agreed to initiate and sign of a Memorandum of Understanding between the states in the agriculture for the development of an institutional cooperation mechanism.
Bolea expressed Moldova's interest in exporting vegetable oils to India and importing rice, fertilizers and pesticides from India. The official noted "the Republic of Moldova is a candidate to become a member state of the EU and has committed to comply with EU standards, therefore, our products are safe for consumption".
In 2022, the largest quantities exported to India were fresh apples and other fruits, as well as sunflower seeds and juices.
