Chisinau, 14 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- By 2030, the authorities propose that all localities in the country be connected to the public water and sewage network. Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Andrei Spînu made the statement today. He presented the Plan for reconstruction of Moldova's infrastructure for the coming years.
According to the minister, in 2022 the public water networks expanded by about 16% and approximately 245 km of aqueduct were put into operation, of which 68.7 km in cities and 177 km in villages.
"Only 61% of localities have functional water distribution networks. It is important for us that all people, schools, kindergartens have access to water and we will make it a priority. By 2030, we aim to connect all localities to the public water and sewage network," he said.
In order to achieve this, the officials planned the completion of the 26 regional development projects for water supply and sewage, the completion of the project to connect Străseni and Călăraşi districts to the water supply system of the municipality of Chisinau, the expansion of the regional water supply system in Cahul, Vulcănești and Râșcani and the construction of treatment plants in Soroca and Comrat.
At the same time, the districts of Ungheni, Nisporeni, Fălești and Hâncești will be connected to the water delivery system in Romania. The aqueduct will pass under the Prut river and will connect with the one in Iași.
