Chisinau, 14 September /MOLDPRES/ - Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu today had a meeting with NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoana, the parliament’s communication and public relations department has reported.
The officials discussed the legislative agenda for this autumn, within which the country’s security and energy security are among the priorities. ‘’ Moldova’s security is a priority and will do our utmost to protect the citizens,’’ Igor Grosu said.
The parliament speaker thanked the NATO deputy secretary general for the assistance provided to Moldova in the last years. He noted that Moldova had been mentioned for the first time ever in the Declaration of the NATO Summit held in Vilnius on 11 July 2023. The Declaration highlighted the sovereign right of Moldova to choose the model of development and the course of foreign policy without any interferences from abroad. In the context, Igor Grosu said that Moldova needed, in continuation, expertise for strengthening its defence capacity and energy security, prevention of cyber, hybrid and misinformation attacks.
„Moldova and the NATO will cooperate in continuation, as we need partners on which one can rely unconditionally and which have always observed the country’s constitutional neutrality,’’ the parliament speaker added.
