Chisinau, 15 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu began his visit to Rome by participating in a joint meeting of the committees for foreign affairs of the Italian Senate and Chamber of Deputies, the MAEIE press service has reported.
The official thanked for the two resolutions adopted by the Committee for Foreign and Community Affairs of the Chamber of Deputies of Italy, which expressed full support for the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union. These resolutions represent a strong signal of solidarity from Italy towards our European path.
"During the three decades of diplomatic relations between our countries, we have built a close and strategic bond based on the European values we share. We reiterated the commitment of our Government to continue the reforms at the internal level in order to speed up the accession process of the Republic of Moldova to the EU. We face several types of hybrid attacks in an attempt to destabilize our country, and the best tool in countering propaganda and disinformation is progress. European accession, the path chosen by the Republic of Moldova represents this progress.
We also discussed new opportunities for economic collaboration and strengthening business partnerships. Italy is one of the most important commercial partners of the Republic of Moldova, our trade amounting to around 690 million euros", said Popescu.
