Moldova's Gross Domestic Product amounts to 70.2 billion lei in second quarter of 2023

Chisinau, 15 September /MOLDPRES/ - The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) amounted to 70.2 billion lei (3.5 billion euros) in the second quarter of 2023, at current market prices, decreasing in real terms by 2.2 per cent against the second quarter of 2022, in gross terms, according to preliminary estimations presented by the National Statistics Bureau (BNS) today.
As for calculations made in seasons, the GDP decreased by 2.3 per cent against the second quarter of 2022 and - by 0.5 per cent against the first quarter of 2023.
According to BNS, the following activities had a negative impact on the GDP’s evolution in the second quarter of 2023: the wholesale and retail trade, maintenance and repair of vehicles and motorcycles, constructions and processing industry.
Such activities as the health and social assistance, education, information and communication, agriculture, forestry and fisheries had a positive influence on GDP’s evolution.
