Moldovan Audiovisual Council fines TV station with 30,000 lei

Chisinau, 19 September /MOLDPRES/ - The distributor of television services TV SAT Limited company has repeatedly broadcast less than 50 per cent of TV stations in the Romanian language; it changed the bid of services without the agreement of the Audiovisual Council (CA); it did not rebroadcast more stations of the ‘’must carry’’ list and did not observe the copyrights and was sanctioned with four fines worth 30,000 lei (1,500 euros) at a meeting on last Friday.  

According to the CA’s communication and external relations service, the control showed that the TV SAT Ltd company does not observe the share of 50 per cent of media television services in the Romanian language and with subtitles/doubling in Romanian, rebroadcast in the Lipcani town, northern Briceni district, Corjeuti village, the same district, Rascani town, Baraboi village, northern Donduseni district, Drochia city, Rautel village, Falesti district, Falesti town, Chisinau city (Buiucani and Ciocana districts), Orhei city, Ceadar-Lunga town from the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia, with the fine imposed by CA standing at 5,000 lei. The company changed the bid of services approved in a proportion which exceeds 10 per cent of the overall number of television services distributed in the Rautel village, Falesti district, the Ungheni and Orhei cities and Ceadar-Lunga town, with the sanction amounting to 10,000 lei.     

The distributor does not rebroadcast more audiovisual media television services of the list of ‘’must carry’’ audiovisual media services: R-Live TV and TV 5 Monde in the Rautel village, Falesti district; Moldova-2, R-Live TV, TV 5 Monde and TV8 in the Ungheni municipality; Moldova-2, Jurnal TV, R Live TV, TV 5 Monde, TV 8, TVR Moldova in the Ceadar-Lunga town, with the fine being of 5,000 lei. The Minimax television services in the Ungheni municipality BCTV in the Orhei city were rebroadcast without observing the copyrights and the related ones, with the distributor fined with 10,000 lei.      

In 2022, TV SAT Ltd was sanctioned with public warning for the non-observance of the obligation of rebroadcasting the ‘’must carry’’ television services and the non-observance of the share of 50 per cent of television services in the Romanian language and with subtitles/doubling in Romanian. The distributor at that time was also sanctioned with by 5,000 lei for the non-observance of the bids of media audiovisual services rebroadcast and for omitting the presentation of the contracts concluded with the holders of copyrights and related rights.
