Moldovan PM instructs measures of preparation for heating season

Chisinau, 20 September /MOLDPRES/ - The measures of preparation for the 2023-2024 heating season and the contingency plan in the case of the limiting of the delivery of natural gas or of energy resources today were discussed at a meeting of the governmental commission for coordination, co-chaired by Prime Minister Dorin Recean and Energy Minister Victor Parlicov, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
At the meeting, Minister Victor Parlicov unveiled a report on the way enterprises and authorities fulfill the actions provided for in the plan of measures for the 2023-2024 heating season. Under the document, the Energocom stock company is the institution nominated to manage sufficient reserves of natural gas for the cold period of the year, in order to ensure Moldova’s energy security. At the same time, the volume of coal in the state reserves was filled at a level of 100 per cent and the procedure of procurement and supplying of crude oil stocks is underway.
As for the energy situation, the Energocom stock company has contracts in force with producers and providers of electric energy from Romania, Ukraine, Bulgaria and the extension of the contract with the Kuchurgan power station (MGRES) is at the phase of negotiation. As far as the current repairs are concerned, decision-makers from the Termoelectrica stock company and the Thermal Power Station-North (CET-Nord) reported about the carrying out of the repair works, which are under completion.
At the meeting, PM Dorin Recean instructed that the competent authorities work out a plan on the distribution of fire wood to residents. Among other measures, proposed at the discussions, there is the identification of a mechanism on the compensation of the prices for the household consumers, depending on the category of energy vulnerability, for the period November 2023 – March 2024.
„The government is prepared to react promptly and efficiently, in order to ensure the energy security and uninterruptedly supply our citizens with energy resources and natural gas,’’ Prime Minister Dorin Recean said at the meeting.
