Parliament session began with minute of silence in memory of first president of Moldova Mircea Snegur

Chisinau, 21 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- Today's Parliament session started with a minute of silence in memory of first president of the Republic of Moldova Mircea Snegur.
"Mircea Snegur lived in historical times and had an essential role in promoting the independence, freedom and sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova. Mircea Snegur will remain in the history of the Republic of Moldova as the president who brought independence, the Romanian language and the tricolor. We are obliged to carry these values forward", Speaker Igor Grosu said.
Mircea Snegur died on September 13, at 83 years old. He served as first president of the Republic of Moldova from September 3, 1990 until December 1, 1996.
