Chisinau, 21 September /MOLDPRES/ - The parliament’s juridical commission for appointments and immunities has announced parliamentary hearings for 25 September at 11:00, on the subject concerning the information on the criminal file in which a member of the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM), Iulian Muntean, recently appointed by the parliament, would be involved.
The National Anticorruption Centre today confirmed to the Pre-Vetting Commission the capacity of accused person of a CSM member, Iulian Muntean, on a criminal file, including the fact that this data was not possible to identify earlier for reason of lack of the putting in the records of this ordinance in the Register of Crime and Criminological Information of the Interior Ministry’s (MAI) Information Technologies Service.
On 20 September, more information sources wrote about the fact that journalist Iulian Muntean, recently appointed by the parliament as member of the Superior Council of Magistracy, is reported as accused person in a corruption file. The Pre-Vetting Commission, which verified him, was saying that it had not been informed on the existence of this file.
For his part, CSM member Iulian Muntean came up with a reaction on his record in a criminal file, opened on corruption deeds by the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office (PA) in 2018. Muntean noted that this so-called file had been concocted at an order by Plahotniuc’s regime as a way of intimidation.
