Chisinau, 21 September /MOLDPRES/ - The head of the Moldovagaz company’s administrative board, Vadim Ceban, today explained that the tariff for gas paid by the end consumers might decrease only if certain conditions are met, including the decrease in the purchasing price for gas. At the same time, he made specifications as to the findings of the audit of the historical debt of Moldovagaz to Gazprom.
„The tariff can be diminished with certain conditions. If the procurement starts at an average weighted price of 550 dollars per 1,000 cubic metres in the fourth quarter, then the tariff is allowed to be cut. If the price is of 500 dollars per 1,000 cubic metres, then we will have a tariff of 16.7 lei for one cubic metre. Yet, these conditions should be met. Presently, there are no premises, as we do not have such a purchasing price. The present tariff is calculated based on the acquisition price of 750 dollars per 1,000 cubic metres,’’ Vadim Ceban said.
As for the findings of the audit of the historical debts to Gazprom, Vadim Ceban informed that all provisions of the report were presently analyzed and decision-makers would subsequently come up with reactions. ‘’We will come up with all details, objections and commentaries on the report. The subject of the historical debts is discussed at the level of stockholders. This report has no legal impact on the Moldovagaz company without the stockholders’ decision,’’ Ceban specified.
„These debts are not of the government; these debts are of the Moldovagaz Company. I have never demanded that this debt is covered at the expense of the consumers. I do not think that there will be impact on the end consumers,’’ Vadim Ceban said.
In early September 2023, Energy Minister Victor Parlicov unveiled the findings of the audit of the alleged historical debts of Moldovagaz to Gazprom. As a result of the carrying out of the audit, Chisinau proposed the payment of about 8.6 million dollars alleged debt and the cancellation by Gazprom of the rest of the alleged debt.
