Moldovan diplomacy head discussed with several European and American officials in New York

Chisinau, 22 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- It was an important week in New York, where Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu participated as part of the delegation led by President Maia Sandu in the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, the MAEIE press service has reported.
This week was a good opportunity to promote the positive image of our country and boost the process of joining the European Union, our objective is to obtain the positive decision on the start of the accession negotiations.
President Maia Sandu spoke about the Republic of Moldova as a future member of the European Union, a country with a clear membership in the free world.
Having discussions with many officials, Nicu Popescu opted for the support of democratic values that are the basis of a developed society.
The Moldovan official had consistent meetings and discussions with his counterparts from European countries, and other high-ranking officials such as: Antony Blinken, US Secretary of State; Josep Borell, European diplomacy head; Roberta Metsola, European Parliament President; Maryia Gabriel, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bulgaria; Elina Valtonen, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Finland; Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary; João Cravinho, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal; Lars Løkke Rasmussen, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark; Bujar Osmani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of North Macedonia; Gordan Grlic-Radman, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Croatia; Luminița Odobescu, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania; Bogdan Aurescu, presidential advisor for foreign policy of Romania; USAID Administrator Samantha Power; Yuri Kim, Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasian Affairs; Derek Chollet, Advisor to the US Secretary of State; Helga Maria Schmid, OSCE Secretary General.
The official chaired the informal meeting of the ministers of foreign affairs of the member states of the Central European Initiative (CEI), as Moldova holds the CEI presidency. He also participated in the meeting of the ministers of foreign affairs from the member states of the Southeast European Cooperation Process (SEECP), organized by the Presidency of North Macedonia within the SEECP.
"I also had a meeting with the representatives of Jewish organizations in the USA, under the auspices of the American Jewish Committee. We addressed a number of topics of common interest, such as policies regarding the promotion of Holocaust memory in our country.
