Chisinau, 22 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- Journalist Elena Covalenco was banned from entering the Transnistrian region for a period of three years. The Reintegration Policy Office came up with a reaction in this case and described the decision as regrettable. The institution said "Tiraspol's abusive practices towards representatives of the media and civil society, the constant restriction of freedom of movement, other brutal limitations of human rights in the region can no longer be tolerated".
"This regrettable action proves that Tiraspol is pursuing a different agenda than the one publicly declared, bringing the negotiation process to a standstill. The measures taken by the unconstitutional authorities jeopardize the efforts of Chisinau and its external partners to find a peaceful and lasting solution to the Transnistrian file", the Reintegration Policy Office said.
Yesterday evening, journalist Elena Covalenco said she was banned from entering the Transnistrian region for a period of three years. She was going to Tiraspol, to participate in a football match.
