Chisinau, 25 Sep. /MOLDPRES/- A group of experts from Japan is conducting a study in the Republic of Moldova for the implementation of an innovative renewable energy production project, which promises to bring significant benefits for environment, local economy and energy security of the country, the Ministry of Agriculture and Industry Food (MAIA) has reported.
According to the ministry, the project to produce energy from vegetable residues, which uses agricultural raw material and manure from livestock enterprises, is based on a closed circuit, with maximum utilization of agricultural products and their derivatives.
"The intention to contribute through the implementation of the given project to the reduction of carbon emissions and dependence on traditional energy sources, as well as the diversification of the country's energy mix will contribute to the minimization of energy and material losses. By using local resources, this project will reduce the dependence on energy imports and bring income to businesses in the agro-industrial sector, as well as significant savings for the national budget", says Vasile Şarban, MAIA state secretary.
The official said that the ministry has always had an effective collaboration with Japanese partners.
"We are grateful to the Government of Japan for the partnership and support offered in the implementation of several projects in the agricultural sector, including this innovative project, which will allow the use of plant residues and the reduction of production costs in the agri-food sector, as well as ensuring a more sustainable future for generations ", Şarban said.
The project will bring significant savings to the national budget, also contributing to mitigating climate change. It will also create jobs and attract investments in the renewable energy sector in the Republic of Moldova, thus strengthening the country's economy, MAIA said.
