Chisinau, 28 September /MOLDPRES/ - A weekly meeting of the Joint Control Commission (JCC) was held in Bender today. The participants in the event tackled more topical subjects on the situation in the Security Zone, the Reintegration Policies Bureau has reported.
The Joint Military Command reported on a trip by military observers to the Chitcani village on 25 and 26 September, where fragments of a presumed missile were identified in a private household. Subsequently, the fragments were evacuated under control of sappers.
Given that the fragments detected are deposited on the uncontrolled area, the Moldovan Delegation demanded a complex investigation of the cases with the involvement of specialists from the constitutional authorities.
Another subject highlighted by Moldova’s representatives was the case on the right to free movement for journalist Elena Covalenco, which occurred on 21 September at one of the unauthorized posts of the Transnistrian power wielding structures. The Moldovan Delegation demanded the cancellation of any restrictions as regards this and other persons, by liquidating all barriers to the free movement in the Security Zone, just as the Ceasefire Agreement from 21 July 1992 stipulates.
In another context, Moldova’s Delegation reiterated the need that the Tiraspol representatives submit pertinent information on the circumstances of the incident, which took place in Rabnita on 7 September, when in the wake of so-called ‘’trainings’’ of Transnistrian power wielding structures, with the use of combat ammunition, the walls and windows of residential buildings were damaged.
In a declaration, Moldova’s Delegation unmasked the Transnistrian power wielding structures’ intention to carry out the patrol of railways, including on the perimeter of the Security Zone, with the involvement of staff armed with pistols. The delegation attracted the JCC’s attention that such unilateral actions ran counter the documents of the peacekeeping operation at Dniester and destabilized the situation in the Security Zone.
The delegates of Chisinau asked Tiraspol to give up abuses and pointed out the need to enforce the mechanisms available at the level of the Joint Control Commission, Joint Military Command, military observers, in order to ensure the control in the area of responsibility of the Joint Peacekeeping Forces.
