Moldova's Medical University benefits from educational equipment in reproductive health field, donated by UNFPA

Chisinau, 29 September /MOLDPRES/ - Students, resident physicians, practitioners and medical staff with secondary education will benefit from extended opportunities for the development and testing of practical skills in the field of sexual and reproductive health, due to modern didactic equipment in medical mannequins, provided by the United nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Moldova. The value of the donation is of over 440,000 lei (22,000 euros).
The beneficiary institutions are the Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF), the Training Centre at the Simulation Base of the Mother and Child Institute, the Raisa Pacalo Centre of Excellence in Medicine and Pharmacy and the medicine colleges from the Balti, Ungheni, Orhei and Cahul cities.
Rector, of the Nicolae Testemitanu USMF, university professor Emil Ceban stressed that the medical mannequins had a major role for improving the process of medical training, improving the quality and safety of the medical services in Moldova.
UNFPA Resident Representative in Moldova Nigina Abaszada said that the equipment provided would improve the quality of the medical education and would complete the efforts of the Health Ministry in the consolidation of the quality of sexual and reproductive health services and, what’s most important, in saving the lives of women from all over the country.
The donation is part of UNFPA’s continuous actions in backing the Health Ministry for strengthening the capacities and resilience of the native health system. The initiative’s goal is to quickly respond to the needs of the sexual and reproductive health of the women and young people refugees from Ukraine, as well as of the host population.
