Moldovan PM says status of country candidate for EU becomes driving force for reforms, modernization

Chisinau, 29 September /MOLDPRES/ - The consolidation of the Moldovan-German political and economic partnership has been discussed by Prime Minister Dorin Recean with the president of the German Bundestag’s Foreign Policy Committee, Michael Roth, the head of the Moldovan-German parliamentary friendship group, Johannes Schraps, the president of the Committee on Affairs of the European Union, Anton Hofreiter and more members of the German parliament at a meeting in Berlin, the government’s communication and protocol department has reported.
The discussions were focused on subjects concerning the cooperation in key sectors, significant progress made by Moldova in the implementation of those nine recommendations by the European Commission, including for combating the corruption and strengthening the rule of law state.
„The status of country candidate for EU, got by our country, has become a driving force for reforms and modernization. We rely on the political support of Germany for the opening of the negotiations on accession,’’ PM Dorin Recean said at the meeting.
The MPs of the Bundestag recognized the importance of the reforms undertaken by Moldova and reiterated Germany’s support in the process of carrying out of the European agenda.
