Moldovan president meets EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy

Chisinau, 30 September /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu on 29 September had a meeting with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, European Commission’s Vice President Josep Borrell, the presidential press service has reported.
The dialogue was focused on the process of Moldova’s accession to EU, the security situation in the region and the consolidation of the country’s capacities to cope with the threats to the national security. The Moldovan president appreciated the support provided by EU to carry out the reforms and strengthen the security and defence sector through the European Peace Facility.
At the meeting, Interior Minister Adrian Efros and Josep Borrell signed the Statute of the European Union Partnership Mission in Moldova. The civil mission, which is part of the EU’s common security and defence policy, has the goal to consolidate Moldova’s capacities in the field of management of crises and hybrid threats. The head of state welcomed the work of the mission and expressed interest in continuing the deepening of the cooperation with the European Union in the security and defence sector.
