Chisinau, Oct. 6 /MOLDPRES/- MPs approved the resignation application of member of the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) Iulian Muntean at the 5 October plenary session, following the scandal that spread in the public space on his insufficient evaluation before being appointed to the position.
The Parliament's decision was approved by the vote of 58 deputies.
Iulian Muntean was appointed by the Parliament as a member of the Superior Council of Magistracy following the organization of a competition for the selection of candidates for the position.
Later, information and evidence were spread in the public space that he would appear in a criminal corruption case, something that was not communicated during the evaluation competition organized by the Pre-vetting Commission. At the same time, the information was not provided by the CNA or the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office.
Iulian Muntean submitted his resignation request on September 26, after several decision-makers came up with the recommendation, including the CSM and the Minister of Justice.
