Chisinau, 6 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Agriculture and Food Industry Ministry (MAIA) and the European Union’s Delegation today organized an event on the launch of the Agro-food Partnership Platform – a initiative aimed at stimulating the cooperation and speeding up the reforms in Moldova’s agro-food sector.
More high-ranking officials, ambassadors, experts and decision-makers from the European Union discussed the support Moldova can benefit from in the implementation of the EU acquis and in the promotion of the agro-food sector’s sustainable development.
"We appreciate much that we have 27 European states with Moldova and Ukraine, which efficiently contribute to the settlement of our problems. The farmers from Moldova go through difficult times, being hit by a string of factors: droughts, consequences of the war, increases in costs for inputs, collapse of the prices in the Black Sea basin, change of the logistic ways, etc. The presence of European ministers at the today’s conference is a sign that we are not alone and that we have colleagues from whom we can take over ideas, pieces of advice and good practices, in order to cope with this complicated situation,’’ Deputy PM, Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Vladimir Bolea said in his greeting speech.
The participants in the event reaffirmed their option to consolidate the cooperation with Moldova, promoting the sustainable development of the agricultural sector and of the food industry from Moldova. The representatives of the members of the Agro-food Partnership Platform reiterated their commitment to further back Moldova in the reform process, stressing the appreciation for the self-denial and work carried out. They expressed confidence in a European future for Moldova.
This was laid down through the signing of a Joint Declaration, which will serve as fundamental pillar for the subsequent establishment of the group of mentorship and for developing cooperation programmes, which will contribute to the modernization and enhancing the competitiveness of the agro-food sector.
More guests of the event are in Chisinau, in order to participate in the launch of the Agro-food Partnership Platform, as well as to be with wine-makers and vine-growers of Moldova, which will mark the National Wine Day on 7-8 October.
