Moldovan foreign affairs minister emphasizes leadership's determination towards reforms' agenda, continuous implementation of European Commission's recommendations

Chisinau, 11 October /MOLDPRES/ - Moldova is in the last phase in the implementation of those nine recommendations of the European Commission and this year we managed to have substantial progress in more sectors.
In the context, Foreign Affairs and European Integration Minister Nicu Popescu has paid a working visit to Brussels, where he met European Commissioner for Neighbourhood and Enlargement Olivér Várhelyi, Director General of the Directorate-General Neighbourhood and Enlargement Negotiations Gert Jan Koopman and Chief Foreign Policy Adviser at the Office of the European Council’s President Simon Mordue, the Foreign Affairs and European Integration Ministry’s (MAEIE) press service has reported.
The officials discussed the latest developments in the process of implementation of those nine recommendations of the European Commission and the substantial progress made by Moldova in the last year. The conversations’ emphasis was put on the fact that the country was in a comprehensive process of self-assessment, in order to ensure the compatibility of the national legislation with the European one (self-screening). The interlocutors were also informed about the working out of the National Plan on Accession to the European Union and its putting up for public consultations. This plan clearly shows the national goal to prepare Moldova for accession to EU till 2030.
„I emphasized our commitment and determination towards the agenda of reforms and the continuous implementation of the European Commission’s recommendations. We focus our efforts to advance in the process of accession and we rely on the support of the European institutions and member states, in order to start the negotiations with the European Union till the end of this year,’’ Minister Nicu Popescu said.
