Moldovan head of state presents draft National Security Strategy

Chisinau, 11 October /MOLDPRES/ - President Maia Sandu presented the draft of the National Security Strategy at the National Security Council (CSS), summoned today. The draft strategy defines the dangers to the security of Moldova and the directions of action suggested for the consolidation of the national security and the security of each citizen, the presidential press service has reported.      

„We have presently two great dangers to the national security: the aggressive policy of the Russian Federation against our country and against peace, in general, and the corruption which took root in Moldova,’’ President Maia Sandu stressed.    

The mission unveiled in the National Security Strategy is based on three essential goals:   

* Protection and guaranteeing the safety of all citizens.  

* Creation of a strong and respected state.  

* Accession to the European Union, where peace is guaranteed.

To achieve these objectives, the head of state said that actions would be taken in several directions: increasing the investments and strengthening the defence and security sector; making gradual progress on the way of settlement of the Transnistrian conflict; development of security partnerships with the most developed and prosperous democratic states of the world; boosting the fight for combating corruption and setting up strong institutions which are to enforce the law; Moldova will contribute to the regional and international security.      

„The peace and well-being of our children is in our hands. Let us join the efforts, institutions, civil society, citizens, so that, out of a small and fragile country, we should become a strong, modern, resilient and European state, able to take care of its citizens, which guarantees that the Moldovans are in safety at home and are treated with respect anywhere in the world,’’ President Maia Sandu noted.
