GENERAL LOCAL ELECTIONS-2023: 24 days left till ballot in Moldova

Chisinau, 11 October /MOLDPRES/ - The today’s electoral agenda included a news conference given by the candidate of the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS) for the office of general mayor of the Chisinau municipality, Lilian Carp. The latter referred to the precarious state of yards and blocks of flats from the city. He gave assurances to citizens that PAS, at the head of the Moldovan capital, would take care for any street and yard of apartment blocks to be safe and arranged.
Also today, the president of the National Alternative Movement (MAN) Party, Ion Ceban, held a news conference too. The MAN leader reviewed his work in the office of mayor of Chisinau in the last four years and explained, according to sectors, what he planned to do for an eventual new mandate.
The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) today informed that 1,958 polling stations would be opened for the general local elections due on 5 November 2023. Most polling stations are in the following electoral constituencies: Chisinau No 1, which comprises the districts and the suburbs of the Moldovan capital - 305; Orhei - 83; Ungheni – 78; Soroca – 74 and Floresti – 71. The fewest polling stations will be opened in the electoral constituencies Basarabeasca – 15 and Dubasari – 14.
To verify online the polling station they belong to, voters can access the webpage www.verifica.cec.md, the section, Learn Where Do You Vote and by selecting the home address, they can learn the information on the polling station related to the address.
Also, the European Network of Election Monitoring Organizations (ENEMO) started its work in Moldova, dealing with the monitoring of the general local polls due on 5 November 2023. The mission will assess the carrying out of the electoral process, in accordance with the national legal framework and the international standards for democratic elections and Moldova’s international commitments.
ENEMO is an international non-governmental organization, made up of 22 NGOs from 18 countries of the Central and Eastern Europe, which has participated in the observation of five national elections organized in Moldova.
