Former SIS head, K1 athlete to be tried for influence peddling

Chisinau, Oct. 12 /MOLDPRES/- Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office completed the criminal investigation and referred to the court the criminal case of accusing a former head of a department within the Intelligence and Security Service, a K1 athlete and his relative, being charged with the influence peddling offense.

The Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office under a complaint started criminal investigation in February 2022.

According to the materials, in 2018, the SIS ex-employee claiming to have influence over some colleagues of the SIS and employees of the Nisporeni District Prosecutor's Office, claimed from the K1 athlete 5000 euros to obtain a favorable decision in the criminal case in which a relative of the latter was involved.

The accused did not admit their guilt, and the criminal case was sent to the Chisinau Court, Buiucani headquarters.

For the committed crime, the law provides punishment in the form of a fine from 150,000 to 200,000 lei or imprisonment from 2 to 6 years.
