Chisinau, Oct. 12 /MOLDPRES/- The crisis cell, set up at the level of the Ministry of Internal Affairs /MAI/, is preparing plans for the support of Moldovan citizens in Israel and the Gaza Strip, who request to return.

According to the MAI, following the instructions of Prime Minister Dorin Recean, representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, the Intelligence and Security Service, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development and the Ministry of Health are working on support and security plans for Moldovan citizens in Israel.

The Crisis Cell duties include: real-time monitoring the situation in Israel;
coordinating communication and information of Moldovan citizens in Israel, in order to provide support for returning home; providing quick aid to citizens in difficulty in the conflict region and requesting support.

The Crisis Cell considers the creation of plans and actions in the following directions: identifying the best and safe ways of return of citizens willing to return to Moldova; contacting the governments of Israel's neighboring countries (Cyprus and Egypt) through governmental means, not only diplomatically, for the relocation, if necessary, of citizens, in case the return to the Republic of Moldova will not be possible directly, by air; maintaining the connection with the Governments of the states that have citizens in Israel and organizing their evacuation, for the taking over of the citizens of the Republic of Moldova; ensuring the connection with the USA, Israel and Egypt regarding the establishment of an evacuation corridor for Gaza civilians, Moldovan citizens in the area, who want to return.

So far, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, through its Crisis Cell, has managed to provide Moldovan citizens in Israel with several communication platforms where they can request for return or other needs. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has also increased the number of Embassy staff.

The MAEIE and the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Israel are in permanent contact with the citizens who are still in Israel and coordinate their evacuation measures in case there are requests.

Citizens with expired travel documents should know that the diplomatic mission in Israel will issue travel documents for them to return.

13,000 Moldovan citizens are registered in Israel, of which 252 registered on the MAEIE platform for return, and 336 returned to the country on scheduled airline flights after the Hamas attack.

The national authorities are also considering providing assistance to Israeli citizens who have chosen Moldova as a refuge destination.

Since the beginning of the conflict, over 600 Israeli citizens have entered the Republic of Moldova.

The authorities and the Moldovan Embassy in Israel recommend Moldovan citizens to keep calm and strictly follow the authorities' instructions.
