PHOTO Chisinau circus restored with EU and UNDP support

Chisinau, Oct. 13 /MOLDPRES/- The restoration works of the building are underway at Chisinau Circus. These works from the first stage are carried out with the support of the European Union Confidence building measures program, implemented by UNDP.
During a press conference today, Moldova Concert director-general Andrei Locoman said that for more than eight months work has been going on at height, for the rehabilitation of the roof of the Circus in Chisinau.
Project manager Andrei Vasilache said that to become an energy efficient building, the works to change the thermal insulation were initiated old one based on glass wool, with a new one based on basaltic wool and lined with magnesium oxide plates. Thus, now the roof of the Circus will meet the demands of energy efficiency, and the new materials used will also provide fire protection.
The European Union through the program allocated over 1,800,000 euros, which covered the costs for detailed technical expertise, for design and for repair/conservation works in the first stage. For the next stages, the authorities of the Republic of Moldova must attract funding, including from development partners.
The Circus building in Chisinau is of special architectural value, and in May 2022, the building was included in the Register of State-protected monuments.
