Moldova's General Police Inspectorate warns corrupting in elections represents offence

Chisinau, 16 October /MOLDPRES/ - The General Police Inspectorate (IGP) today launched an informative videoclip, thereby warning that the action of corrupting voters represents an offence.
According to IGP, the corrupting of voters is an illegal practice, through which individuals or groups of people try to influence the results of the elections by giving bribe or other advantages, in order to change voters’ preferences.
Under the Criminal Code, the corrupting of electors is punished with a fine worth up to 57,500 lei or imprisonment of up to five years in case of private people and fine amounting up to 400,000 lei (20,000 euros), with the deprivation of the right to exercise a certain activity or liquidation of the legal entity.
Thus, IGP urges all citizens to express their own will by free vote and observe all measures and restrictions established by the normative acts during the local elections.
General local elections will be held in Moldova on 5 November, this year.
