50 Moldovan citizens called for evacuation from Gaza Strip

Chisinau, Oct. 17 /MOLDPRES/- A number of 50 Moldovan citizens from the Gaza Strip requested assistance, including evacuation, out of the 100-120 citizens registered in this area.

The government announces that it is doing everything possible to evacuate Moldovan citizens from this area, but the Rafah crossing point, on the border with Egypt, remains closed. To date, no country has been able to bring its citizens out of this area. The authorities are in constant dialogue with international partners to successfully evacuate civilians, including citizens of the Republic of Moldova.

The Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in the State of Israel has delegated a consular officer to Egypt, ready to move to the Rafah crossing point at any time to issue the necessary documents to our citizens from Gaza and to facilitate their journey to Cairo and, subsequently, to the Republic Moldova.

The Chisinau authorities say they are ready to provide assistance to Moldovan citizens as soon as they receive official notifications from the Egyptian and Israeli authorities regarding the opening of an evacuation corridor.
