Campaign for breast cancer early detection launched in Moldova

Chisinau, 18 October /MOLDPRES/ - A campaign of breast cancer early detection, of information and promotion of health of the mammary glands was launched in Moldova today. The action will be carried out by the Oncological Institute in October-December 2023. The campaign is meant also for the women refugees from Ukraine in Moldova.
According to the National Health Insurances Company (CNAM), the action will be held with the financial support of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), in partnership with CNAM, National Public Health Agency (ANSP) and the Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
The campaign is set to boost the measures of early detection of pre-cancer conditions and the breast cancer in women from Moldova, as well as to simplify the process of confirmation of the diagnosis in the women with clinical symptoms detected at the breast examination or self-examination.
CNAM’s data shows that, in 2023, 51 million lei was allocated from funds of the mandatory health insurances for the treatment of 4,600 cases of breast cancer; the average cost for one treated case is of about 11,000 lei.
