Chisinau, 26 October /MOLDPRES/ - The data form the register with the names of passengers in the air transport field will be used in Moldova. Sixty five MPs approved a draft law to this effect in the first reading today.
Thus, the data from the register with the names of passengers will be able to be subsequently submitted to the competent authorities of Moldova and from other countries, as well as to Europol.
The draft’s authors say that this will contribute to the carrying out of the measures of ensuring the security, through detecting the people affiliated with terror groups and formations, those suspected of committing of terror acts or of passengers who pose risks to the national security. More exactly, the collection and use of data from the register of passengers will allow identifying people who pose certain risks, before they reach the border crossing point. At the same time, the competent authorities will be able to take a decision on additional measures which must be enforced ahead of their arrival.
According to the procedure proposed, the data on passengers will be submitted from air carriers to the Information Unit on Passengers through a single desk and the General Inspectorate of Border Police will be able to collect this data. At the same time, the data will be able to be submitted to other states and international organizations, including Europol, according to the legal provisions and based on the international treaties Moldova is party to.
