Moldovan commission for external evaluation of prosecutors to have three new members

Chisinau, 26 October /MOLDPRES/ - Three members of the commission for external evaluation of prosecutors (vetting) were appointed to office by the parliament today. Their candidacies were put forward by development partners.
One of the members of the vetting commission is Christopher Lehmann, with an experience of 30 years in the office of federal prosecutor of the Department of Justice of the United States. During his work, Christopher Lehmann instrumented inclusively cases of money laundering.
The development partners also put forward the candidacy of Irmantas Mikelionis – deputy chief prosecutor at the Prosecutor General’s Office of Lithuania, specialized in the investigation of organized crimes and corruption cases.
The MPs also voted for the candidacy of Saskia de Vries – prosecutor from the Netherlands. Her activity comprises a rich experience in the cross-border cooperation and in international organizations. She was prosecutor detached to Serbia, where she provided consultancy in the Prosecutor’s Office and the Special Prosecutor’s Office for Organized Crime.
The commission for external evaluation of prosecutors is made up of six members, appointed with the votes of three fifths of the number of elected MPs. Three candidacies are put forward by the development partners and the rest – by the parliamentary factions, with the observance of the proportional representation of the majority and the opposition.
