Searches made in file on illegal financial, voters' corruption regard Chance Party of Moldova

Chisinau, 27 October /MOLDPRES/ - The Chance Party is the formation regarded in the actions on documentation and searches carried out in a file on the illegal financial of a political party and corrupting voters on 26 October. The head of the General Police Inspectorate (IGP), Viorel Cernauteanu, made statements to this effect at a news conference today.
According to the IGP leadership, the raids were carried out in three municipalities and 19 districts of Moldova. ‘’The law-enforcement body found out a vast phenomenon as to the illegal financing of the electoral campaign, corrupting voters and forging signatures in the list of supporting independent candidates, who were actually promoted by the Chance Party. Following the investigations, law-enforcers established that most transactions come from abroad and namely from Russia and are managed by a crime ring in the interest of a political formation – the Chance Party,’’ Viorel Cernauteanu said.
The IGP head noted that the suspects were making a scheme of money laundering through citizens. ‘’The person was presenting the incomes, in order to motivate the donations made to the account of the formation. Thus, pensioners were making donations worth up to 2,000 lei (about 100 euros) and employed people – beginning with 9,000 lei. This represents a form of money laundering through citizens,’’ Cernauteanu stressed.
In the context, the IGP leadership urged the citizens ‘’not to be subjects of this illegal process, as they run the risk of being documented by law-enforcers.’’
On 26 October, the IGP’s National Investigations Inspectorate, jointly with anticorruption officers and prosecutors made raids with 65 searches in more settlements of Moldova, within a file on illegal financing of a political party, as well as of independent candidates guided by the same staff, within the general local elections. Three persons, - representatives of the concerned party - were detained following the searches.
