Chisinau, Oct. 30 /MOLDPRES/- SIS director Alexandru Musteață held a press briefing today on ensuring information security in the context of hybrid attacks against the Republic of Moldova. He announced he will request the suspension of the activity of six TV channels during the state of emergency.
The request was sent to the Commission for Emergency Situations to suspend the activity of six TV channels during the state of emergency: Orizont TV, ITV, Prime, Publika TV, Canal 2 and Canal 3.
He said that his institution has information that the activity of these channels is carried out with multiple violations.
"We have operational information, as well as evidence that the Russian Federation is influencing the local elections on November 5. This happens through several methods involving the illegal financing of electoral campaigns, buying votes, corrupting candidates, but also through well-designed disinformation campaigns through certain TV channels, websites, social networks. All of the mentioned are part of the arsenal of the hybrid war waged by Russia against our country. These channels promote narratives that generate instability in our country", Musteață said.
The SIS head said that in recent months there has been an intensification of informational attacks and an increase in risks to national security, with an exponential increase, especially during the election period.
