Chisinau, 8 November /MOLDPRES/ - The runoff election of the general local polls will take place in 273 settlements of Moldova on 19 November. The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) approved a decision to this end today.

„The registration of the two candidates in the ballot paper will be made in the descending order of the number of votes grabbed in the first round of the elections. The voting in the runoff election will be made based on the same electoral lists used in the first round of the ballot,’’ CEC said.
Under the electoral legislation, the candidates who will compete in the runoff election can carry out electoral campaign after the establishment of the date of the runoff election, under CEC decision. The electoral agitation is allowed only till the Friday ahead of the day of voting, i.e. 17 November 2023.
As many as 623 mayors were elected in the first round of the general local polls. They picked up more than a half of the validly expressed votes.
