Chisinau, 8 November /MOLDPRES/ - Partial elections will be held in the Cealic commune, Taraclia district, and in the villages of Chioselia Rusa and Cotovscoe from the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia on 3 March 2024. The Central Electoral Commission (CEC) approved a decision to this end at a today’s meeting.
Only one electoral contender for the office of mayor or local councilor, nominated by the Chance political party, was registered in each of these settlements at the general local elections held on 5 November this year. Under the instruction No 92 of the Commission for Emergency Situations, the cancellation of the registration of the candidates nominated by this party was decided.
„In accordance with the provisions of the electoral legislation, the partial elections are organized in conditions when, following general local elections, the mayors or the established number of councilors in a single or more electoral constituencies were not elected,’’ CEC noted.
In these circumstances, on 3 March 2024, partial elections will be held for new composition of the Cealic commune council, Taraclia district and the position of mayor of the Chioselia Rusa village and Cotovscoe village from the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia.
