Chisinau, 14 November /MOLDPRES/ - Two judges today were detained for 72 hours following searches carried out by anticorruption officers and prosecutors. One of the magistrates works at the Chisinau Court of Appeal and the second one – at the Chisinau Court.

According to the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office (PA), the prosecutors are to decide whether approaches are to be made as to the enforcement of the preventive measure of arrest. ‘’Presently, the searches are underway; we will come up with additional details,’’ PA said.

The Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office, jointly with the National Anticorruption Centre (CNA), today carries out searches in the offices, automobiles and homes of four judges. The actions take place, after the plenum of the Superior Council of Magistracy (CSM) admitted those four notifications by the acting Prosecutor General, which asked for the issuance of the agreement for the carrying out of criminal prosecution actions against judges.

According to CNA, one of the judges is suspected of passive corruption and influence peddling. Therefore, CSM gave consent for the starting of the criminal prosecution actions, including forced bringing, detaining, arrest and carrying out of searches.

As for another two judges, suspected of complicity in influence peddling, CSM issued the consent for the same criminal prosecution actions. One of the judges is suspected of active corruption, with the agreement issued for starting the criminal prosecution, forced bringing, detaining, arrest and carrying out of searches. The CSM members informed that those four magistrates were from the Chisinau Court and Court of Appeal.
