Government improves mechanism for providing state-guaranteed mediation services

Chisinau, Nov. 15 /MOLDPRES/- Access to justice for people from socially vulnerable categories will be facilitated, and state-guaranteed mediation services will be provided based on new provisions. Government approved a decision to this end, the government's communication and protocol department has reported.

Under the document, state-guaranteed mediation services will be integrated into the state-guaranteed legal aid system. People whose income is lower than the minimum monthly salary in the country will be able to benefit from these services. At the same time, regardless of income level, services will be provided to minors, people who have not reached 21 years old, as well as those with severe or pronounced disabilities.

If until now, the services could only be requested for criminal cases, following the changes - the categories of litigation are to be extended to contraventional and civil ones. The application for state-guaranteed mediation services will be submitted to the territorial office, no later than 15 working days from the date the case was referred to mediation.
