Moldovan education minister conveyed message on International Students' Day

Chisinau, Nov. 17 /MOLDPRES/- We want as many young people as possible to choose to study in the universities of our country, and those who study abroad decide to return home and contribute to the development of the Republic of Moldova. Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun conveyed the message on International Students' Day, which is celebrated today.
"We, at the Ministry of Education and Research, are trying to invest as much as possible in the universities of the Republic of Moldova, to modernize them. We are talking about almost one billion lei that are already going to our universities to modernize the living conditions in the dormitories, laboratories, equipment and everything else necessary, so as to ensure the quality of studies", said Dan Perciun.
International Students' Day is held in Moldova every year on November 17. According to the data of the National Statistics Bureau, in the academic year 2022-2023, there were 56,700 students in the Republic of Moldova. More than 74 percent of them were pursuing undergraduate studies. Out of the total number, about 30 thousand young people were doing their studies with budget funding.
At the same time, in the previous academic year, 5,200 young people from other countries studied in our country, most of them from Romania, India and Israel.
