Chisinau, 18 November /MOLDPRES/ - The raids made on 17 November evening regarded the Chance political party. The searches were carried out in a criminal file opened in last August on the illegal financing of political parties, initiative groups and electoral contenders, committed in large amounts, as well as for the offence provided by the Criminal Code, ‘’money laundering, committed by an organized crime ring in particularly large amounts.’’
According to the General Police Department (IGP), the searches were made at a representative of the Chance political party, as well as at his home. The respective person, after receiving money from a messenger, started distributing them to people who had participated in rallies, various meetings of the party, as well as to those voted for the members of this party in the first round of the general local elections on 5 November 2023. Thus, law-enforcers established the people who had received the sums of money and who, during hearings, recognized that they received the money from a representative of the Chance party.
„During the searches, policemen raised a mobile phone with conclusive evidence for the prosecution; financial means worth 192,360 lei (about 9,618 euros); rough copies with lists of people who received unaccounted sums of money and the ones which were to be paid; rough copies with the sums of money received from the political party, expenses during this year,’’ IGP’s communique reads.
Law-enforcers noted that the investigations within the file continued.
