Central Electoral Commission: 313,767 electors vote at today's ballot in Moldova

Chisinau, 19 November /MOLDPRES/ - As many as 313,767 electors (about 36.7 per cent) out of those 828,557 ones, expected at the polling stations, voted till 21:00. At this hour, most polling stations are closed.
The runoff election of the general local polls was held in 273 settlements of Moldova today. At the same time, repeated elections took place in another eight settlements: for the office of mayor and local councilor in six settlements and only for the position of local councilor in two settlements.
A number of 544 people run for the office of mayor in the settlements where the runoff election of the general local polls is held.
According to data by the Central Electoral Commission, 828,557 ballot papers were printed for the runoff election of the general local polls. At the same time, 22,927 ballot papers were printed for the repeated elections. The overall value of the ballot papers printed for the runoff election of the general local polls and the repeated elections is of about 250,000 lei (12,500 euros).
Under the electoral legislation, at the runoff election, the elections are declared valid in each electoral constituency, if at least 20 per cent of the number of people registered in the electoral lists from the concerned settlement participates in them.
As many as 623 mayors were elected in the first round of the general local polls at the ballot held on 5 November this year; they picked up more than a half of the validly expressed vote.
