Chisinau, 19 November /MOLDPRES/ - Anatol Donţu, the mayor elected for the Causeni town in the first round of the elections with about 80 per cent of the votes today was declared invalid for this office, following a decision by the Electoral Council of the Causeni Electoral Constituency (CECE) 10/1.
„Dear residents of the Causeni town, the meeting of CEC Causeni 10/1 was convened today, during which five people decided the fate of the ballot from 5 November 2023, during which the citizens gave 4,900 votes for the candidate Dontu Anatolie. All courts gave their opinions (Causeni court, Stefan Voda court, Chisinau Court of Appeal, Chisinau Supreme Court) that I can put forward my candidacy. Yet, CEC Causeni 10/1 did not validate my mandate of mayor of the Chisinau city,’’ Anatol Dontu wrote on a social network.
Contacted by MOLDPRES, members of CECE 10/1 Causeni said that they had observed the law, while the others said they were not judges to take such decisions.
