Moldovan government's aid to reach farmers' accounts this week

Chisinau, Nov. 21 /MOLDPRES/- The first 118 million lei of the aid allocated by the Government worth 200 million lei (5.9 million euros) have reached the accounts of 958 micro and small farmers in the country, the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA) said yesterday.

The money will help farmers reduce their production costs, improve their financial situation, work and prepare the land for the next period, MAIA said.

The financial aid disbursement began on November 17, and will be secured by the end of this week.

The total number of applicants comes to 2,161 farmers. Among them, 1,706 farmers are classified as micro farmers and 455 - small farmers, and the total area established per country, from which the amount of financial aid is calculated, is 161,433 ha, sown with crops of the first group (wheat, barley, oats).
