State of emergency could be extended by 30 days

Chisinau, Nov. 22 /MOLDPRES/- The state of emergency in Moldova could be extended for a period of 30 days, starting from December 1. Government approved a decision to this end today.
Minister of Internal Affairs Adrian Efros argued the need for the establishment of the state of emergency by the fact that "the dynamics of the regional security situation in recent months and the uncertainties regarding the further evolution of the war in Ukraine constitute circumstances of maintaining high-impact risks that can also affect Moldova".
"It is expected that during the cold season, with a high probability, the Russian armed forces will intensify attacks on the Ukrainian energy infrastructure. The potential attacks on the energy infrastructure could have repercussions on the power supply in Moldova", the informative note of the project reads.
"We will really need in the next 30 days, until we strengthen the other tools, to be able to act on the challenges aimed at energy, those of disinformation and propaganda, but also the attempts at interference we have seen lately ", said Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
The document is to be submitted to Parliament for approval.
The last time, the state of emergency in the Republic of Moldova was extended by 60 days starting from October 2. The state of emergency in our country was established on February 24, 2022, with the outbreak of the war in Ukraine.
