Legislation in road transport sector to be adjusted in Moldova

Chisinau, 22 November /MOLDPRES/ - The legislation in the road transport sector will be adjusted, so that the citizens benefit from more accessible and safer public transport. The parliamentary commission for economy, budget and finances will propose to parliament the approval of a draft law to this effect.
Thus, a string of provisions of the Code of road transports, Contravention Code, Fiscal Code, Law on the road transport’s safety, Law on the regulation through authorization of the entrepreneurial activity will be adjusted, following the analysis of the post-pandemic situation and the consequences of the war in Ukraine. The adjustings will be made, in order to enhance the level of safety and comfort of the road transport services.
The draft is aimed at simplifying the work for the business environment, including as regards the procedures of issuance of permissive acts, through reducing the administrative burden, de-bureaucratization, as well as the stimulation of the sound competition, especially in the case of the taxi services.
The management of the road transport sector is to be decentralized and the powers for the elaboration, approval and change of the schedule of inter-district transport will be transferred from the central specialty body to the National Motor Transport Agency. At the same time, the local and municipal councils, in the context of the need of the road transport against payment locally, will work out, will approve and will change the scheduled of road transport, in accordance with the residents’ transport needs. As for the international transport, the hour limitings will be removed and the time intervals will be shortened to 15 minutes for nation-wide routes.
Other amendments see that the tickets will be sold through e-Ticket or the own sale systems, interconnected to this information system.
