Moldovan speaker, Austrian ministers address current issues

Chisinau, Nov. 23 /MOLDPRES/- Speaker Igor Grosu and Austrian ministers for European and Economic Affairs discussed Moldova's reform agenda in Vienna, the parliament's communication and public relations department has reported.
At the meeting with Federal Minister for European and International Affairs Alexander Schallenberg, Grosu emphasized the parliament's commitment and determination towards the reform agenda, noting that Moldova is in an extensive process of equating the national legislation with the European one. The officials also exchanged views on the latest developments in the implementation process of the nine recommendations issued by the European Commission. "We are making these reforms to have resilient institutions that fight corruption, strengthen democracy and create an attractive environment for investors. We will continue to do our homework, so that we have the positive decision of the Council of Europe regarding the opening of accession negotiations by the end of this year", he said.
The talks with Federal Minister of Labor and Economic Affairs Martin Kocher referred to economic reforms. The speaker said that the reform of the Labor Inspection is one of the basic priorities, as well as the digitalization of the social assistance system - an important component for which the Republic of Moldova needs expertise.
"Our efforts are focused on improving the business environment. We encourage both local entrepreneurs and European companies to invest in Moldova. Austrian investments in areas such as tourism, renewable energy, IT, agriculture, infrastructure, the automotive industry would allow us to create jobs and ensure the transfer of knowledge and high standards," he said.
Grosu accompanied by a parliamentary delegation paid an official visit to the Republic of Austria on November 21-23, at the invitation of his Austrian counterpart.
